About this site
Oscillations is a platform for civilizational renewal.
We convene research, education, and advocacy to help peoples think and act together across traditions, disciplines, and worlds. Our aim is to create spaces where knowledge is not abstract but lived: where working papers, dialogues, and interventions serve as instruments for re-composing the dignity and responsibility of persons, peoples, and communities.
We work at the crossings — at the center and the margins of the World: forests and cities, classrooms and councils, river basins and diasporic neighborhoods. Our collaborators include those cultivating knowledge in the Amazon, Oceania, and across the covenantal traditions of the Abrahamic peoples — Jewish, Christian, and Muslim — as well as others renewing science, philosophy, and law. Oscillations lives in these crossings, where civilizations meet, fracture, and begin again.
Our method combines symmetric anthropology with what we call Sky–Earth Systems Science: the practice of thinking-with others, inviting multiple forms of reasoning into shared dialogue, cultivating spaces of reason where persons can meet in accountability and invention, and testing new forms of description and social composition in public. In practice, this means publishing working papers and policy briefs, hosting reading circles and seminars, and fostering alliances that protect cultural autonomy and open the possibility of renewal.
This practice is also a form of ordinary diplomacy: persons and peoples meeting as equals, thinking-with each other in reciprocity, and composing agreements that matter in life as much as in thought. Oscillations is also a network of peoples thinking-with each other across the Sky–Earth System, cultivating reciprocity and accountability at once local and planetary.
Oscillations itself is not a journal, a campaign, or a school — but it borrows something from each. We publish because thought must be shared; we intervene because advocacy is necessary; we teach because renewal requires learning. Above all, we hold that every people carries a light worth defending and a science worth sharing, and that only by learning from one another can we sustain a common world.
Invitation. Oscillations welcomes scholars and students, elders and artisans, scientists and organizers, readers and writers. If you are working to revive practices, compose schools, draft charters, or simply speak across difference in good faith — we invite you to think-with us, publish with us, and carry this work further into the world.
